Preoperative Preparation:

• Verifying patient medical history and consent

• Preparing the surgical field following sterile protocols

• Positioning the patient appropriately for the procedure

Intraoperative Assistance:

• Handling and passing surgical instruments to the surgeon

• Controlling bleeding (use of suction, electrocautery, and hemostasis techniques)

• Retracting tissues to improve visibility

• Assisting with wound closure (suturing, in some cases)

Postoperative Tasks:

• Applying dressings or bandages

• Monitoring the patient during immediate recovery

• Collecting and cleaning surgical instruments

​

Technical and Administrative Support:

• Managing surgical inventory

• Maintaining equipment sterility

• Assisting with clinical documentation and reports

1. Copy of diploma in a healthcare-related field (no translation required). Only physicians, dentists, and in certain cases, nurses are eligible to apply

2. Valid identification (passport, driver’s license, or government-issued ID)

3. Resume (CV or professional work history)

The Surgical Assistant training is an in-person program consisting of approximately 6 to 8 preparatory classes.

​
